Mumbai, 7th December 09: Bollywood heartthrob, Ranbir Kapoor flagged off the Yamaha India Bike Rally, the first reality show by BIGADDA at the MMRDA Ground, in Mumbai today. Ranbir Kapoor came in full gusto to encourage the twenty finalists of the Yamaha India Bike Rally as they got ready to travel on Yamaha bikes over 4,500 km across 40 cities in 7 states in India for the next 21 days.

The rally will cover an extensive stretch across Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh in a time span of just 21 days. 20 finalists divided into 10 teams, each team consisting of 2 members will halt at a village or town (‘pit stops’) each day according to their route map.

The tasks at these stops have been designed to give participants local flavors and experiences, whether it is kite making in Gujarat, an orange harvesting festival in Nagpur, a cow milking contest in Gwalior, or a roti making competition at a dhaba en route from Delhi to Chandigarh.

All the participants will be equipped with Yamaha Bikes, Tata Photon internet connection, HP Mini, Canon products and Lee apparels that will help them feature their experiences through blogs, photos and videos on BIGADDA.com on a daily basis.

The first time rally received an overwhelming response from people across the country; with over 8,000 registrations. The finalists were selected after a gruelling round of auditions over the last few weeks in various centres. 13 young men and 7 women from Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Bangalore and Ahmedabad have made it to the final twenty.

Commenting on IBR, Pankaj Dubey, National Business Head, India Yamaha Motor, said, “Yamaha has been constantly shifting gears to transform the market from utility to pleasure & lifestyle. Today, Yamaha offers innovative designs, sporty looks and premium features across models as part of its strategy to give consumers a new thrill in biking. With the Yamaha India Bike Rally kick starting from today, the company sets in a new era of bike rally which caters to the aspirations of the young Indian bikers. We have taken up this idea with as much zeal as the contestants themselves and Bigadda added to this passion of bringing an opportunity to discover India with India’s very own biking enthusiast ready to make a mark on Yamaha Bikes.”

Shivanandan Pare, COO, Bigadda said, ‘This is the first time that a reality show has been launched on any social networking platform. At Bigadda, this is a moment of great pride, as it reinforces our faith in the social media boom that has taken over the country. IBR is a jambination of reality shows and social networking and we are confident of its success. This is a once in a lifetime experience for the twenty young participants as they hit the road on the state-of-the-art Yamaha bikes and we wish them the very best. I would also like to thank Ranbir Kapoor for coming to flag off and cheer the contestants and wish him the very best for his upcoming movie. You can look forward to Rocket Singh communities, blogs and contests on Bigadda in the next few weeks.”

The winning team will get Yamaha YZF-R15 and Fazer; First and Second Runner up and four other lucky online users will win YZF-R15, Fazer, FZ16, FZS and Gladiator SS. 5 million plus users of BIGADDA will get a chance to rate the contributions made by the bikers and the winner will be decided on the basis of the overall number of votes received on his or her blog posts, photos and videos.

Yamaha R15

Yamaha R15

Yamaha India launched the mini super bike, Yamaha R-15 , a bike that brought an all new experiance for the Indian bikers. But still there were certain things about which the bikers were not happy.

If sources are to be believed Yamaha has taken note of those and and is in the process of upgrading the R15 with slight aesthetic changes.
Though not much is known about the technical aspects of this bike, there would be some cosmetic changes to it.The upgraded model may include split seat, rear LED tail lamp & some changes in the bike’s rear section also.

There is no confirmation of its launch but the company, some sources claim, has halted production of the existing version as it is about to bring in the new R15. May be we get a glimpse of this new Yamaha R-15 in the Auto Expo 2010. All YZF-R15 enthusiasts cross your fingers.

Recently I tried to confirm the above news. And sorry Guys for now its just a rumor. But yes we might have some news after Auto Expo 2010.

So if you are planning to buy Yamaha R15, please proceed  and do not wait for any new customized look. At least for now.

The Ex-Showroom Price of  Yamaha YZF-R15 is Rs. 97425.

As the new  Yamaha VMAX 2009 hits the Indian shores, we travel 24 years back in time to the genesis of the legend….

A quarter of a century ago, when cubic capacity ruled – Yamaha captured the true spirit of the time and revealed what over 23 years later has become perhaps the most legendry bike ever built, the V-Max. A class of its own, a class of muscle bound image and brutal acceleration.

In 1983, Akira Araki was appointed as the project leader for developing a die-hard muscle bike . He and two of his team members spent almost a month in USA to understand the culture and the market for such an outrageous concept. Soon, a team consisting of Akira Araki (Project Leader), Yasushi Ashihara (Engine Designer), Makoto Kurachi (Chassis Designer), Kentaro Yamamoto (Styling Designer) and an American freelance artist, John Reed sat down to get the first sketches of this concept in place. Nobody including the designers who saw their final product could have imagined that Yamaha V-max would last over two decades, but the fact is it has.

The mad acceleration rush and the deep growl of the V4 motor together offered crazy levels of thrill and excitement to the adrenaline junkies of the world. The V-max was fast and violent. The bike had Hooliganism stamped on it from front to rear. With its massive 1,198cc V4, 4-stroke, 4-valve DOHC engine kicking out 140PS, this radically-styled muscle bike became an instant legend which established itself as the definitive cult-bike. With around 100,000 units sold during its production run that spanned three decades, the original VMAX made history by being included in the Guggenheim Museum’s ‘Art of the Motorcycle’.

The first generation V-Max unveiled in 1985 remained largely unchanged for next twenty years albeit with minor upgrades like better brakes and improved suspension components to aid its infamous handling characteristics. The second generation model, known as Yamaha VMAX, was showcased in June, 2008 with an all-new 1,679cc V4 engine and lightweight diamond shaped aluminium chassis. The new 2009 VMAX successfully carried forward the design philosophy of its predecessor but with a more mental powerplant and equally competent cycle parts to give the new bike respectable handling and dynamic ability.

From the hand-polished aluminium air intakes to the four black mufflers, the VMAX shouts power and adrenaline. The beast’s acceleration sensation intensified to the max thanks to Yamaha’s cutting-edge developed electronics technologies YCC-I (Yamaha Chipped Controlled Intake) and YCC-T (Yamaha Chip Controlled Throttle).

There has never been anything to beat it since 1985…until now…by Yamaha V-max 2009. The rebirth of a legend , a mega-muscle bike with drag-strip acceleration for the biggest adrenaline kick on the street.
